How to Determine the Handing of a Door
The hand of a door is always determined by facing the OUTSIDE of a door.
If the hinge is on the left side of the door, the door is Right Hand (RH).
If the hinge is on the right side of the door, the door is Left Hand (LH).
To order a handed product, specify LH or RH.
Not all products are handed; only specify handing when required.

Builder Keyed System System Keying is a security system which allows subcontractors, electricians, plumbers etc. access through all locks while building is in progress. On completion, the first turn of the owners key automatically changes the pin combination, thereby making all construction keys inoperative. Double Builder Keying is also available for people such as real estate agents. When the building is completed and the first construction key is kick off (eliminating tradesmens access) the real estate agent still has access until the owners key kicks off the double construction key. 1. During construction all the Builder Keys issued by the builder will operate the locks. These keys are designed to accommodate a tiny ball which sits inside one of the tumbler chambers. 2. When the new homeowner comes to operate the lock the key is designed such that it lifts the ball out of the chamber. 3. When the owners key is turned for the first time the ball is deposited into a small cavity on the side where it stays forever. In effect this alters the combination of the lock. 4. Should a builder key then be inserted into the lock the pins wil not line up and the key will not turn. 5. Only the home owners key will line up all the pins allowing the lock to operate. | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
